Denmark wants to banish cash payments

Denmark government wants to banish cash payments from its country. Between others, they enumerate as electronic payment services main advantages, the security, fastness, hygiene and risk reduction associated with cash payments.

About a third of the danish already uses mobile payment services with tendency to increase. If the proposal measure is approved by danish parliament, retailers will have the right of choosing to accept or deny cash payments in their establishments.

This right of choice in banning cash payments is considered by danish government as a way to facilitate the life of sellers, retailers and consumers as well as reduce the theft risk.
